1958 Chevrolet Impala
American Graffiti Car
This 1958 Chevrolet Impala was featured in the LucasFilm 1973 movie “American Graffiti” and was really the car that sparked Ray Evernham's passion for all things automobile. After pursuing the car for most of his adult life, in 2015 Ray finally acquired the it from the gentleman who originally bought it right from LucasFilm in 1972. When the car arrived at Big Iron Garage, the its paint was deteriorating and cracking, the chrome had lost its shine and the interior was fading. The Big Iron Garage team disassembled the impala and every salvageable piece was cleaned and restored to keep the originality. The car still has the production-related modifications, to keep the car authentic to where it came from. The car was unveiled at the 2016 SEMA Show in Axalta Coating Systems’ booth with the help of Candy Clark, who played Debbie in “American Graffiti”.
